Telehealth Services

with Heredia Therapy Group

Want to See a Therapist from the comfort of your home?

No one should have to endure this hardship alone. Heredia Therapy Group is proud to offer new teletherapy services for our clients here in Downey, The City of Industry, and everywhere across the state of California. And, we plan to continue providing online therapy, even after this national crisis has ended, to better serve our clients who may have difficulty making it to the office.

WHAT IS TELETHERAPY?

Teletherapy is just what it sounds like.  Instead of meeting in an office and in-person for psychotherapy or counseling, you meet with your therapist over the internet via video chat (or over the phone, if needed).

Teletherapy is also called e-therapy, online therapy, or telepsychology.  The service of teletherapy is just one category under the umbrella of telehealth services, such as telemedicine and telepsychiatry. Therapists are able to provide individual, couples, and even group therapy over the internet – and research shows it is just as effective as an in-person visit (see Varker et al., 2018, and Glueckauf et al., 2018).

ISSUES TELETHERAPY CAN HELP YOU WITH

Telehealth and teletherapy allow our therapists to provide clients with easy, safe access to services.

  • Grief and loss (death of a loved one, loss of career, etc.)

  • Relationship issues, marital problems, and loneliness

  • Childrearing and parent issues

  • Difficulties with sleep

  • Feeling down, depressed, or hopeless

  • Stress management

  • Coping with anxiety or worry

  • Mood swings

  • Difficulty focusing or being productive

If you or a loved one are struggling, we can help. Here at Heredia Therapy Group, we believe that everyone deserves a chance at wellness. Even though we can’t be together, we are still here for you.

How Does Teletherapy Work at Heredia Therapy Group?

Heredia Therapy Group uses a secure, fully confidential, HIPAA compliant video platform through Simple Practice.  Simple Practice makes it easy for us to connect with just a few clicks without sacrificing quality or risking your privacy.

YOUR CONVENIENCE

Teletherapy sessions are easy to set up and scheduled for your convenience.  You can meet with your therapist any time during our usual hours and in the safety and comfort of your home or office, and the sessions last the same amount of time (but without the commute!).

YOUR ENVIRONMENT

You will need to have a decent internet connection, along with a smartphone or computer with a webcam, in order to do a video chat session through Simple Practice.  You may also consider using headphones for increased privacy.

YOUR APPOINTMENT

After you get signed up, your therapist will send you a link via email so that you can join your session. At the time of the appointment, just click that link to be directed to your video session.  If at any point you are having trouble accessing your session or if you aren’t sure what to do next, please contact us!  Our team can help walk you through the steps and help you set up as needed.

Telehealth Services FAQ's

Do you offer teletherapy in Spanish?

Yes we do. We have clinicians who speak Spanish and are able to offer therapy in Spanish.

Does insurance cover teletherapy?

Due to the national crisis, many insurances are currently reimbursing for teletherapy at the same rate as an in-person meeting.  Please give us a call so that we can help you verify your benefits!

Do you provide teletherapy for kids?

Yes, we do!  Many kids actually prefer video sessions are happy to have extra screen time!  However, not all kids are able to engage in teletherapy sessions – contact us to learn if your child is appropriate for teletherapy.

Do you offer teletherapy for couples or romantic partners?

Yes!  Our marriage and couples counselors would love to work with you and your partner.

Do you provide family therapy over teletherapy?

We do!  You may want to meet together, as a group, in front of one camera if possible.

What if I’m nervous or uncomfortable with being on video?

Some people may feel a bit awkward or anxious the first time they try teletherapy.  That’s okay!  We still encourage you to give it a try.  It gets easier once you’ve started.  However, if video doesn’t work for you, phone sessions may also be an option.

I don’t have a private place to talk – what should I do?

Feel free to contact us to get some help with problem-solving a space to do teletherapy! For example, some clients may sit in their car during the session.

What if I try teletherapy and I don’t like it?

Not a problem!  Some people enjoy teletherapy more than others. We encourage everyone to give it a try to see what it’s like.

Do you provide assessments via teletherapy?

Unfortunately, most assessments (especially autism assessments) must be done in-person, and so we are unable to offer assessments via teletherapy this time.

What if I have technical issues before or during the session?

Contact us by phone or email as soon as you notice something isn’t working – we are here for you.  If your session is disrupted or impossible because of technical issues, contact us to discuss a refund.
