with Heredia Therapy Group
Occupational therapy focuses on supporting people who have gone through medical procedures, suffer from mental or physical afflictions or injuries. The goal is to ensure patients perform daily activities safely and effectively—from showering and eating to moving around, working, and playing.
Occupational therapists assess the extent of the health challenge, help you adjusthabits and spaces, and find tools to assist you in accomplishing these tasks. Occupational therapists are also able to help children with developmental differences and the functional difficulties that can come from things like cerebral palsy, perinatal injury, and more. Children who are not meeting developmental milestones (e.g., crawling, walking, talking) can greatly benefit from working with an occupational therapist.
The impact of occupational therapy goes beyond day-to-day actions. It’s about empowering you or your child with the confidence and hope to do what you loveand reach your goals.
We all deserve a chance at a meaningful life.
When we suffer from health ailments, injuries, or disabilities, we may go through a whirlwind of emotions. Will I recover? Will I ever get back to work, hold my baby, walk my dog, or do the things I love? Is there hope?
Yes, there is.
It may be a lengthy and bumpy road, but we are here to take the journey with you.
At Heredia Therapy Group, our mission is to provide compassionate and comprehensive care for our clients, and that includes occupational therapy.
No matter the challenge, we are devoted to helping you be an active participant in your everyday activities and return to what matters most.
Occupational therapy is not physical therapy nor career counseling.
Occupational and physical therapy may be recommended for the same health conditions to improve quality of life. However, unlike occupational therapy, physical therapy focuses on helping you enhance your mobility, strength, and range of motion.
“Occupations” are activities in which we engage in, but not necessarily jobs or professional endeavors. Occupational therapy does not center on finding employment or offering vocational advice but on providing practical and holistic care for daily living. For example, occupational therapy involves supporting job tasks, adapting workplaces, or finding ergonomic tools.
Occupational therapy can support you when a health condition or disease impedes your ability to carry on with your life.
Common health challenges that may benefit from occupational therapy include:
