Social groups are designed to help children, adolescents, and young adults develop and practice social skills in a supportive therapeutic setting. Many individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and related conditions lack the necessary skills to navigate peer and adult relationships. Social group therapy directly teaches and practices any specific social skills an individual may be struggling with. Many children and teens struggle with making and keeping friends for a variety of reasons: social anxieties, difficulties maintaining conversations with peers, lack of a social filter, trouble controlling impulsivity, challenges controlling emotional responses with peers, etc. Heredia Therapy Group, Inc. offers social skills groups for youth and young adults ages 4 years old until 22 years old. We place participants in groups based off their age, but also their developmental levels, language abilities and interest and areas of need. Social Skills Groups offer youth and adults a fun group meeting where they learn to socialize and communicate with peers and adults appropriately. During each session, the client will learn and practice a new skill while interacting with other group members. Some skills which will be addressed include: social awareness, social cues, conversational skills, empathy, anger management and friendship development. The group focuses on various social skills that are needed for everyday living such as problem solving, teamwork, communication, expressing feelings. Please give us a call for more information.
