Positive Affirmations for Anxiety
By: Evelia Saucedo AMFT
Anxiety is very common among individuals, some may experience it at a mild level, while others may experience moderate or severe anxiety. Many individuals have experienced or will experience anxiety at some point in their live; some will be able to manage on their own, or with other healthy support system or coping strategies.
Some effective strategies can be positive affirmations.
What are positive affirmations? They are phrases/words in which individuals can kindly, positively and gently encourage themselves to challenge negative thoughts. Positive affirmations can motivate an individual, especially when they are used consistently (talk your-self out loud, as it can also be empowering, i.e. “June you are doing enough.” “June you are loved, and you will get through this” ). Talking to yourself kindly and addressing yourself with nurture will help in managing insecurities and develop self-confidence.
Positive Affirmations:
You are loved
You are enough
You are brave
My/your feelings are valid
This is difficult, you are entitled to your feelings/emotions.
You are not alone.
You are strong.
You’ve got this.
You’re doing the best you can and that is enough!
Anxiety is temporary.
