We all deserve a chance at a meaningful life.
When we suffer from health ailments, injuries, or disabilities, we may go through a whirlwind of emotions. Will I recover? Will I ever get back to work, hold my baby, walk my dog, or do the things I love? Is there hope?

It may be a lengthy and bumpy road, but we are here to take the journey with you.

Curious about occupational therapy and how it can help? See below to learn more!
What Is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational therapy focuses on supporting people who have gone through medical procedures, suffer from mental or physical afflictions or injuries. The goal is to ensure patients perform daily activities safely and effectively—from showering and eating to moving around, working, and playing.
Occupational therapists assess the extent of the health challenge, help you adjust habits and spaces, and find tools to assist you in accomplishing these tasks. Occupational therapists are also able to help children with developmental differences and the functional difficulties that can come from things like cerebral palsy, perinatal injury, and more. Children who are not meeting developmental milestones (e.g., crawling, walking, talking) can greatly benefit from working with an occupational therapist.
The impact of occupational therapy goes beyond day-to-day actions. It’s about empowering you or your child with the confidence and hope to do what you love and reach your goals.
What Occupational Therapy Is Not
Occupational therapy is not physical therapy nor career counseling.
Occupational and physical therapy may be recommended for the same health conditions to improve quality of life. However, unlike occupational therapy, physical therapy focuses on helping you enhance your mobility, strength, and range of motion.
“Occupations” are activities in which we engage in, but not necessarily jobs or professional endeavors. Occupational therapy does not center on finding employment or offering vocational advice but on providing practical and holistic care for daily living. For example, occupational therapy involves supporting job tasks, adapting workplaces, or finding ergonomic tools.
Do I Need Occupational Therapy?
Occupational therapy can support you when a health condition or disease impedes your ability to carry on with your life.
Common health challenges that may benefit from occupational therapy include:
Occupational therapy can help children of all ages and adults. Here at Heredia Therapy Group, we serve children and infants with autism spectrum, cerebral palsy, trauma during birth, and other related disorders that can affect functioning.
If you are unsure whether occupational therapy can assist you or your family, please reach out to us.
How Can Occupational Therapy Help?
Occupational therapy can help you perform Activities of Daily Living (also known as ADLs) to take care of yourself and maintain your well-being.
Occupational therapy can also assist you with tasks outside of primary ADLs, such as:
Here at Heredia Therapy Group, we offer occupational therapy for adults and children struggling with a medical condition, injury, or disability.
Our occupational therapy process involves:
We will evaluate your physical and cognitive abilities, home, school, work environment, and support system. Together, we will identify the activities that matter most to you and define clear treatment objectives.
Next, we will facilitate your physical, mental, and social healing. We will teach you how to complete daily tasks in your condition or recommend alternate strategies to approach them.
Keep in mind that recovery is not necessarily linear. During this process, you may face setbacks or feel like healing is not happening as fast as you expected. We will be right there to navigate these hiccups with you and keep a close eye on your progress.
We will make suggestions to adapt or change the materials you use and spaces where you perform regular activities. This process may require finding new equipment, adjusting your school or office layout, or modifying your medium of transportation.
